MA – Stop a Flavor Ban! (S.1279)
A bill, S 1279, which would ban the sale of flavored vapor and other smoke-free products is scheduled for a public hearing on
TUESDAY, JULY 16, 2019
1:00 PM to 5:00 PM
While some may believe that an exemption for “smoking bars” is a fair compromise, we know that anti-vaping activists are pushing for this bill to be amended to ban flavors in all retail stores in Massachusetts. Plus, banning non-tobacco-flavored vaping products from being sold in convenience stores will only protect the sales of cigarettes by removing a direct competitor from the “power wall” behind the register.
Please make plans to attend this hearing. Even if you do not plan to speak your presence is important as it demonstrates the large numbers of people affected by this issue. If you do plan to speak, please be aware that time may be strictly limited. Plan for having less than five minutes to deliver your remarks and be prepared for only having two minutes. If you would like some assistance with writing your testimony, please see our talking points on flavor bans here.
